Application software is a subclass of computer software that utilizes the ability of direct computer to perform a task that the user wants. Usually compared to a software system that integrates a variety of computer skills, but does not directly apply those skills to do a task that benefit the user. The main example is the application software word processing, spreadsheets, and media player.Some applications are bundled together into a package are sometimes referred to as a package or suite of applications (application suite). Examples are Microsoft Office and OpenOffice.org, which combines a word processor, spreadsheet, and several other applications. These applications typically have a package that has a common user interface making it easier for users to learn and use each application. Often times, they have the ability to interact with one another so that benefit the user.
